Being born and Bred in South Shields, I have lived in the Town most of my life. I attended Gillbert Street Infants School, Stanhope Road Junior School and Stanhope Comprehensive. I left school at 16 and went to work in Covent Garden, London for a diamond merchant. After a few years working in the capital I returned to my home town. I did an assortment of jobs in retail. I married in 1981, my husband travelled abroad, so not wanting to miss an opportunity to broaden my horizons I travelled with him until my son was born in 1985. I worked around family commitments at this time and became a Youth Worker in South Tyneside. In 1990 when my daughter was born I changed my career path, I became a Home's Manager firstly working with the Elderly, then with Adults with physical and learning disabilities. My last employment was as the Managing Director of South Tyneside Community Empowerment Network. Having always worked in Local Communities and having Interest in Politics, becoming a Councillor was natural progression for me. Its is an honour for me to get elected as a Harton Ward Councillor. I look forward to working for the people of Harton Ward to ensure any issues or concerns raised are taken forward and acted upon.
We will be taking a break on 23/12/23, 30/12/23, and 6/1/24 returning on Jan 13/1/24.
Ward surgeries are held every Saturday at Marsden Road Community Centre, 10:00-11:00.
